Create a Video!Teachers and/or kids can reflect in meaningful ways through the creation of videos using Animoto, iMovie, etc. Here are some great examples focusing on the issue of hunger.
Hunger at Home by Liz Stimer, Westerville City Schools |
Reflection Questions• Each student decorates a cut-out of a food item (made of construction paper). For example, apple, banana, broccoli, a can of food, a box of cereal, etc. Students write and/or draw about what they learned about hunger on the silhouette of the food item. Display these in the classroom and/or at the celebration/demonstration event.
• Develop a skit/performance about your service-learning project. Perform for other students in your school, parents, and/or community members. • What did you learn about the issue of hunger? What did you learn about yourself as an artist? How can an artist help others understand the issue of hunger? • What was my process for creating my art? How many drafts did it take to make it the way I wanted it to look? What was that like—are you the kind of artist that likes the process/experimentation, or are you eager to get to the finished product? • Looking back on the whole process, what 2-3 facts that you learned stand out most in your memory? Why? Do you feel that your art conveys this information? How? |
Reflection
Reflection includes ctivities that help students understand the service-learning experience and to think about its meaning and connection to them, their society, and what they have learned in school.
